* at Boston 91, New Jersey 69: Rajon Rondo and Tony Allen had 13 points apiece to help make up for sub-par games from the team’s big three as the Celtics improved to 7-0, their best start since opening 10-0 in 1972-73.

* Detroit 111, at Golden State 104: Rasheed Wallace had 13 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and the Pistons rallied from a 22-point deficit to beat the Warriors (0-6) without Chauncey Billups (knee) and Antonio McDyess (shoulder).

* Orlando 117, at Cleveland 116 (OT): Dwight Howard tied a career high with 35 points and the Magic’s Hedo Turkoglu tied up LeBron James for a jump ball in the final seconds of overtime to help the Magic stay perfect (5-0) on the road.

* at Milwaukee 102, Memphis 99: The Bucks’ Desmond Mason made a 14-foot jumper with 13.6 seconds left, and the Grizzlies’ Pau Gasol missed a tying three-point attempt at the buzzer. Michael Redd scored 31 points for Milwaukee.

* at New Orleans 95, Philadelphia 76: Morris Peterson made six three-pointers and finished with 27 points to help the Hornets win their third straight game and match the best start (7-2) in the franchise’s 20-year history before only 8,302.

* Utah 92, at Toronto 88: The Jazz won its fifth in a row behind Carlos Boozer’s 23 points and 14 rebounds. Deron Williams had 22 points, including two free throws after Utah’s lead was cut to 89-88 with 18 seconds left. Toronto fell to 1-3 at home.

* at Atlanta 117, Charlotte 109: Joe Johnson scored a season-high 34 points and the Hawks shot 68.5% in the first half and never trailed, with their only bad news being injuries to Josh Smith (quad) and Acie Law (ankle).

* at Washington 103, Indiana 90: Gilbert Arenas scored 20 of his 30 points in the first half and finished with 11 assists and six rebounds in sending the Pacers to their fifth straight loss. Arenas, shooting 35.6% coming in, made nine of 18 shots.

* at Minnesota 108, Sacramento 103: Rashad McCants scored a career-high 33 points on 13-of-22 shooting in the Timberwolves’ first win. Sacramento’s Ron Artest returned from his seven-game suspension with 17 points for the Kings.

* at Denver 110, Portland 93: Carmelo Anthony had 25 points and the Nuggets turned a three-point second-quarter lead into a 52-38 halftime edge to win their fourth in a row. Portland had its four-game winning streak ended.

* Seattle 104, at Miami 95: The Heat trailed, 22-12, when Dwyane Wade took the court for the first time this season and could never catch the SuperSonics, who won for the first time in nine games and sent Miami to 1-7.

* Lakers 93, at Houston 90: Tracy McGrady left with an elbow injury late in the first half and the Lakers took advantage of the Rockets’ 35% shooting. Yao Ming made only six of 18 shots.

* at Clippers 84, New York 81: Stephon Marbury rejoined the Knicks after missing one game and being fined, but New York still lost its fourth in a row.
