More help needed on skid row

Re “Crime off, but plan is faulted,” Sept. 26

The UCLA study has found what those of us who serve on skid row already knew -- there’s less violent crime, some temporary relocation of the chronic homeless and nothing but words from government. In the meantime, we continue to serve those who need help, especially toward the end of the month when their meager dole money for food and shelter is gone. Today, just for breakfast alone, we served nearly twice the number served last year. Service providers are doing our part. We need the city and county to do theirs.
