Man accused of trying to drown dog faces charge
A man accused of trying to drown his dog in a bathtub was charged Thursday with animal cruelty.
Casey Purser faces up to five years in state prison if convicted of the felony count.
Los Angeles County prosecutors said Purser became angry Monday when he came home from jail on an unrelated drug case and saw that his pet Shih Tzu had defecated on the carpet.
The dog, named Toby, was thrown into a bathtub and held underwater until a neighbor intervened. She rescued Toby by giving him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and taking him to a veterinary hospital.
