Grocery butcher held in Van Nuys rape

A 32-year-old butcher in an upscale grocery has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in Van Nuys in June after DNA samples linked him to the victim, police said.

Fernando Lopez Garcia, 32, was arrested at his job at the Beverly Glen Marketplace in the 2900 block of North Beverly Glen Circle on Tuesday morning. Lopez Garcia, who is being held in lieu of $300,000 bail, is a suspect in two other sexual assaults in the Van Nuys area that occurred June 22, police said.
