A man and woman, both 22, were arrested and booked on multiple charges, including child endangerment, in connection with the Friday night shooting death of a 10-year-old boy in the East Stockton area, authorities said.

Devante Ware was shot in the head at a Stockton-area home and later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Authorities did not indicate whether the boy shot himself or was shot by someone else, but said additional charges “may be pending.”

The victim’s cousin, Dontaye Magee, and his girlfriend, Brandy Murray, both of the Stockton area, were arrested Saturday by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department.

They each were booked on three counts of child endangerment, based on the presence of Ware and two other children in the home where the shooting occurred, and improper storage of a firearm. Magee also was booked as being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
