U.S. initial jobless claims rise 4,000

First-time applications for jobless claims in the U.S. rose less than forecast last week, suggesting the labor market isn’t collapsing even as economists predict slower growth.
Initial unemployment claims rose by 4,000 to 319,000 in the week ended Sept. 8, the Labor Department said. The four-week moving average dipped to 324,000 from 325,000.
