Falling TV kills toddler in Pomona
A 2-year-old boy was crushed to death Friday when a television set toppled off a dresser in his home and fell on his neck, Pomona police said.
They received a 911 call late Friday afternoon to a home in the 800 block of East Phillips Boulevard. When they arrived they found the boy, Milton Vasquez, unconscious, said Sgt. Jeff Anderson of the Pomona Police Department.
Anderson said CPR was performed on the boy in an effort to resuscitate him. He was pronounced dead at the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.
Police said that the 20-inch television set was on a wobbly dresser and that when it fell it struck the boy’s neck and pinned him against the footboard of a bed.
Anderson said there were no signs of foul play.
