Defense rests in slayings of 2 men
Defense attorneys for two women accused of killing two homeless men for insurance benefits rested their cases Tuesday.
Roger Jon Diamond, representing defendant Helen Golay, 77, tried to submit as evidence court documents regarding litigation between Golay and her daughter Kecia, who Diamond told jurors was responsible for the murder of one of the victims, 50-year-old Kenneth McDavid.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David Wesley refused to allow the documents into evidence, saying they contained allegations that were never proved in court.
Deputy Public Defender Michael Sklar, representing co-defendant Olga Rutterschmidt, 75, chose not to call any witnesses and said he would “rest on the state of the evidence.”
