Galaxy loses to Earthquakes, 3-2
OAKLAND -- Darren Huckerby scored one goal and had an assist as the San Jose Earthquakes beat the Galaxy, 3-2, on Sunday, ending a winless streak at eight games.
Ryan Cochrane scored his first goal of the season in the 90th minute for the Earthquakes (4-9-6).
Newly acquired Arturo Alvarez also scored to give San Jose’s league-worst offense its first three-goal game of the year.
Cochrane jumped on the rebound of a shot by Huckerby and guided it into a net left unguarded by Galaxy goalkeeper Steve Cronin, who had come off his line.
The Galaxy (6-8-5) had its winless streak extended to seven games. Landon Donovan and Edson Buddle, the league’s top two individual scorers, scored for the Galaxy.
David Beckham delivered a pinpoint cross that Donovan headed home in the 42nd minute.
