* Cincinnati 2, at Chicago 1: Bronson Arroyo (11-10) gave up three hits and a run in seven innings and the Reds cooled off the Cubs, who lost for only the fifth time in 22 games.
* at Milwaukee 5, Houston 2: Manny Parra (10-6) lasted five innings to earn his first victory in a month, J.J. Hardy hit a two-run home run and the Brewers won despite getting only four hits.
* at St. Louis 11, Pittsburgh 2: Rick Ankiel and Jason LaRue each hit two-run home runs and Todd Wellemeyer (11-4) beat the Pirates for the third time this season.
* at San Francisco 6, Florida 5: Bengie Molina’s sacrifice fly in the ninth inning lifted the Giants after pinch-hitter John Baker’s three-run home run had tied the score in the top of the inning.
* at Arizona 8, San Diego 6: Adam Dunn hit his National League-leading 34th home run and his second in as many games to lift the Diamondbacks.
