Car kills woman in crosswalk
A pedestrian in a crosswalk was struck by a vehicle and killed Friday morning.
Police said Martin Kuehl, 41, of Costa Mesa was driving west on Westcliff Drive at Buckingham Lane in Newport Beach when his sport utility vehicle struck the woman about 8:30 a.m. Her name was withheld by authorities pending notification of family.
Police said that neither excessive speed nor drugs or alcohol appeared to be involved and that an investigation was continuing.
