Giants...23 Redskins...7
Eli Manning had his first 300-yard passing game of the season as the New York Giants came up with another dominating performance to defeat the Washington Redskins, 23-7.
Manning was 21 for 34 for 305 yards for New York (11-1), which has won seven straight, including six in a row against teams with winning records, and leads Dallas by three games in the NFC East.
In completing a sweep of the Redskins, the Giants held NFL rushing leader Clinton Portis to 22 yards and clearly were not distracted by the situation involving receiver Plaxico Burress, who accidentally shot himself in the right leg at a Manhattan club Friday and expects to be charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
Washington (7-5) fell behind Dallas in the wild-card race.
Quoteworthy: “There’s still a long road ahead of us. We’re not out of the playoffs.” -- Clinton Portis, Redskins running back
