Plane crash victims identified
The two men killed in a crash Saturday of a small plane in a remote area of northeastern San Diego County have been identified as Gerald Francis Peck of Anaheim and Edward Maurice Gates of Pomona, the county medical examiner said.
Peck, 61, worked for the Transportation Security Administration at John Wayne Airport in Orange County. Gates, 58, was a professor of mechanical engineering at Cal-Poly Pomona.
Authorities believe Peck was the pilot; no cause for the crash has been determined. The plane took off from Chino and crashed about 1:30 p.m.
