Simple rules

Re “Inglewood has a history of deadly force by police,” Dec. 28

Education is a two-way street. If, as your article alleges, the officers of the Inglewood Police Department are in need of better training, then so are certain residents of Inglewood.

Allow me to quote some dos and don’ts from How Not to Get Shot by the Police 101:

First, don’t break the law.

Second, if a police officer tells you to do something, just do it.

Third, if being detained by a police officer, do not flee, argue, threaten, ignore, disobey, make any sudden moves, reach for anything, pull up your pants or brandish a toy gun.

If all citizens detained by police officers would follow these simple rules, fewer unarmed citizens would find themselves on the wrong end of a discharged service revolver.
