Cal State Fullerton defeated Cal State Northridge, 80-72, Saturday night at Northridge despite missing 13 of its first 15 second-half shots.

Scott Cutley, who scored 19 points, made seven of his 10 attempts as the Titans (15-5, 7-2 Big West) defeated the Matadors (14-6, 7-1) for the eighth consecutive time.

The Titans, who made just nine of 27 shots in the second half, shot 40% from the field (26 of 65).

Northridge started the second half with a 21-5 run. Tremaine Townsend scored 10 of his 12 points during that span as the Matadors took a 58-51 lead with 10:33 to play.

But after Josh Jenkins’ driving layup gave Northridge a 68-64 lead, Cutley and Frank Robinson combined for 12 of Fullerton’s final 16 points.

UC Irvine 70, Long Beach State 48 -- Darren Fells scored 17 points and had 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season to help the Anteaters (9-12, 4-4 Big West) beat the host 49ers (4-16, 1-7) for only the fourth time in the last 20 games. Irvine broke open a close game midway through the first half with a 17-4 run over a span of 10 minutes.

UC Riverside 62, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 58 -- The Highlanders (5-15, 2-7 Big West) ended a three-game losing streak thanks to aggressive defense and well-balanced scoring -- four players in double figures -- at Riverside.

The Mustangs (8-12, 3-5) opened the second half with an 11-5 run and held Riverside without a basket for the first 6:33, but the Highlanders’ ability to make free throws (17 of 19) kept the Mustangs at bay.

San Diego 72, Loyola Marymount 48 -- Freshman Rob Jones scored 27 points to lead the Toreros (12-11, 5-1 West Coast Conference) past the host Lions (4-18, 1-5), who have lost four in a row and 11 of 12.

With Wiggins keying two big runs and standout freshman Kayla Pedersen scoring 28 points, the Cardinal rolled past the Bruins (11-11, 6-5) at Maples Pavilion.
