MAMA’S GOT A BRAND NEW BAG

Stella McCARTNEY has more brand extensions than an octopus has tentacles. She’s partnered with H&M;, Adidas and Barneys, where she has her own organic line. And now she’s teamed up with Le Sportsac on a collection of great-looking parent- and kid-friendly bags in her signature dusty rose and gray.

Each style is done in Le Sportsac’s traditional nylon, which jibes with McCartney’s famously vegan approach. The puffy, slick fabric with swirl and floral patterns gives a cartoonish look to the collection, especially the Bunny Rucksack ($120), a rabbit-shaped backpack that comes in a kaleidoscope of candy colors. It’s meant for toddlers, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see it being sported around Harajuku Station.

All of the bags have a removable cosmetic case and enough space to store laptops, baby bottles and diapers. The Mum Tote, $350, also has a changing pad and bottle holders. But the chic plum and dirty pink color blocking on the bag make it chic enough to be a work bag.

The small Bowling Bag Tote, also $350, has just about every kind of pocket you would need, even a zip-around pocket at the base of the bag that would work for gym shoes. The bold orange and charcoal gray straps and pocket linings make it especially sporty and modern.

One of the priciest items in the line is the 22-inch Carry On Case, $420, which comes in a quilted fabric and the jaunty floral “Posh Print.” It’s a roomy tote, and there is also a pull-out handle on the side so it can be wheeled around as carry-on luggage.

McCartney’s brand is growing along with her brood -- she just had her third child -- and the mommy jet set is a good niche for her, and a good fit for Le Sportsac.
