Hollywood studios filed a lawsuit in China accusing Shenzhen Xunlei Network Technology Ltd., an operator of file-sharing networks, of enabling piracy of movies including “Spider-Man 3.”

The Motion Picture Assn. of America, a Washington-based trade group, said its six member studios filed a civil complaint in Shanghai Pudong District Court.

Xunlei has facilitated the unauthorized transmission of hundreds of films, the MPAA said. The lawsuit seeks more than $974,000 in damages and a halt to illegal file-sharing. Google Inc. bought a minority stake in Shenzhen last year as part of a plan to increase its share in China’s Internet market.
