* at Vancouver 4, Edmonton 2: Markus Naslund scored the opening goal and helped set up Daniel Sedin’s winner 7:45 into the third period, lifting the Canucks to a rough, fight-filled victory. The Oilers lost for the second time in six games to fall seven points out of the playoffs. Alexandre Burrows added an empty-net goal with 40 seconds left that sparked a melee featuring no fewer than three fights. The Canucks have nine points in their last seven games.

* at New Jersey 3, Ottawa 2: Arron Asham scored two goals and Paul Martin had two assists to help the Devils beat the Senators. New Jersey is only two points behind Ottawa for first place in the Eastern Conference. The loss was the third in a row for the Senators, who have yet to win since acquiring Cory Stillman and Mike Commodore in a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes six days ago.

* at Nashville 2, St. Louis 1 (OT): Shea Weber scored 40 seconds into overtime to give the Predators the victory. Marek Zidlicky passed the puck to Weber high in the slot. Weber blasted the one-timer past St. Louis goaltender Manny Legace high to his glove side for the power-play goal. Yan Stastny scored for the Blues.

* at N.Y. Rangers 5, Buffalo 1: Sean Avery scored the first of his two goals 10 seconds in and Brandon Dubinsky had a goal and two assists. Ryan Callahan, Dubinsky and Brendan Shanahan also scored for New York, which leaped over Buffalo in the Eastern Conference playoff race by winning for the seventh time in 11 games.

* at N.Y. Islanders 4, Atlanta 1: Rick DiPietro came 77 seconds short of a shutout and the Islanders set franchise records for fewest shots given up and shot discrepancy. DiPietro needed to stop only nine shots and the Islanders pelted Kari Lehtonen with 49.

* at Carolina 5, Florida 4: Ray Whitney scored with 4:21 left and the Hurricanes rallied from a two-goal deficit in the third period to extend their home winning streak against the Panthers to 13 games.

* at Montreal 1, Philadelphia 0: Carey Price stopped 34 shots for his first NHL shutout, Andrei Kostitsyn scored and the Canadiens won their second in a row after a season-high three-game losing streak. Philadelphia lost its sixth in a row, matching its longest losing streak of the season.

* at Toronto 4, Boston 3 (OT): Darcy Tucker scored his second goal 3:39 into overtime to win it for the Maple Leafs. Dominic Moore and Nik Antropov also scored for Toronto. Dennis Wideman, Glen Murray and Zdeno Chara replied for the Bruins.

* Washington 3, at Tampa Bay 2: Alexander Semin scored the go-ahead goal late in the third period. Tomas Fleischmann and David Steckel also scored for the Capitals. Olie Kolzig had 39 saves. Lightning goalie Johan Holmqvist made 32 saves.

* at Phoenix 4, Kings 3: Radim Vrbata scored a power-play goal with 7:06 left to lift the Coyotes past the Kings, losers of two of their last three games.
