Robbery victim dies from stroke
A woman who suffered a stroke after being shot with pepper spray during a robbery outside her home Sunday has died, authorities said Thursday.
Kun Min Kim, 50, died about 4 p.m. at Fountain Valley’s Orange County Memorial Hospital after family members decided to remove her from life support. She had been hospitalized since the attack, said Officer Van Woodson, a spokesman for the Westminster Police Department.
A robber hit Kim in the face with pepper spray about 7:30 p.m. Sunday as she parked in a carport at her apartment building in the 15000 block of Van Buren Street. The attacker grabbed her lunch bag and fled.
While in the hospital, she suffered a stroke and was placed in intensive care. A brain scan showed that Kim had developed a large blood clot, possibly triggered by the shock of the attack. Woodson said police had made no arrests in the case.
