Man and teenager are held in slaying
A Van Nuys man and a teenage boy were arrested Sunday morning in connection with the death of a man found Saturday in a Sylmar motel room, police said.
Los Angeles Police Department officers arrested Armando Torrez, 23, and a 17-year-old Van Nuys resident at 6:30 a.m. in the 14200 block of Calvert Street in Van Nuys, Officer Mike Lopez said.
The two are suspects in the death of Jose Carrillo, 45, whose body was found by officers at the Countryside Inn Motel near Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park, Lopez said.
Torrez and the youth are being held in a Van Nuys jail, police said.
