Phoenix 4, at Columbus 2: Peter Mueller scored twice and the Coyotes scored three third-period goals and won for the first time when trailing through two periods.

at Boston 3, Nashville 1: Glen Metropolit scored two goals in the third period and Tim Thomas stopped 37 shots to lift the Bruins, who posted their fifth win in seven games.

at Carolina, 3, New York Rangers 1: Rod Brind’Amour and Sergei Samsonov scored in the second period and Trevor Letowski added an insurance goal in the third.

Ottawa 5, at New York Islanders 2: Mike Fisher had a goal and assist for the Senators, who won for only the third time in eight games. Martin Gerber turned aside 23 shots for his 23rd win.

Buffalo 4, at Tampa Bay 2: Jason Pominville scored a goal and had two assists as the Sabres won for only the fourth time in 16 games.

Pittsburgh 4, at New Jersey 2: Erik Christensen had a goal and assist during the Penguins’ three-goal second period. Pittsburgh defeated the Devils for the fifth time in a row in New Jersey.

St. Louis 3, at Toronto 2: Keith Tkachuk scored on his team’s first two shots and the Blues ended a seven-game winless streak. Toronto native Manny Legace stopped 23 shots for the Blues.

at Montreal 4, Washington 0: Cristobal Huet stopped 35 shots in his second shutout of the season and Mark Streit had a goal and an assist to lead the Canadiens.

San Jose 3, at Edmonton 0: Evgeni Nabokov earned his sixth shutout with only 13 saves and the Sharks won their third in a row. Joe Pavelski, Mike Grier and Patrick Rissmiller scored for San Jose.

Dallas 4, at Vancouver 3: Mike Modano and Stephane Robidas scored three minutes apart early in the second period and Marty Turco made 29 saves for the Stars.

at Philadelphia 3, Kings 2: The Kings haven’t won in Philadelphia since March 23, 2000.
