at Cincinnati 3, Washington 0: Ken Griffey Jr. hit a two-run shot for career homer No. 604. He followed Jay Bruce’s one-out double in the first inning with a 344-foot line drive that bounced off an advertising sign over the bench in the visitor’s bullpen down the right-field line.

at Milwaukee 9, Pittsburgh 1: J.J. Hardy and Bill Hall each hit a two-run homer, and Ben Sheets worked out of several jams to earn his 10th win. Sheets stranded eight runners in the first five innings, yielding one run and eight hits before departing with two out in the sixth after throwing 120 pitches.

at Philadelphia 3, New York 2: Shane Victorino’s two-out RBI single in the ninth inning won it for the Phillies. Former Dodger Duaner Sanchez retired the first two batters before Pedro Feliz doubled to left. Victorino followed with a liner to right on a 1-and-2 pitch to score Feliz.

Chicago 2, at St. Louis 1: Carlos Zambrano came off the 15-day disabled list from a shoulder strain with six scoreless innings. Kosuke Fukudome homered in the first inning and Geovany Soto connected in the fourth.

at Atlanta 6, Houston 2: Jason Perry hit a run-scoring triple in his first major league at-bat to help the Braves end a five-game losing streak. His drive to right drove in Brian McCann from first base.

San Diego 5, at Arizona 1: Cha Seung Baek took a bid for the Padres’ first no-hitter into the sixth inning. The Diamondbacks didn’t come close to a hit until Stephen Drew doubled to the gap in right-center with two out in the sixth.

at Colorado 18, Florida 17: The Rockies won after trailing by nine runs. Chris Iannetta singled home the winning run off Kevin Gregg in the ninth inning.

Dodgers 10, at San Francisco 7: Russell Martin’s run-scoring double in the sixth inning was his first hit in 14 at-bats against the Giants.
