Logan is appointed registrar
County supervisors this week unanimously appointed Dean C. Logan as permanent registrar-recorder/county clerk. The registrar/recorder oversees elections for more than 4 million voters and keeps track of thousands of official documents.
Logan, who was chosen from 24 candidates from across the country, had been filling the post on an interim basis since Conny McCormack retired earlier this year. He will be paid $195,000 a year.
Logan’s short tenure has already been busy. Last month, the office was in charge of implementing the state Supreme Court’s order allowing for same-sex marriages in California. Although Los Angeles saw an 81% increase in marriage licenses issued by his office during the first week gay unions were legal, there were few complications.
