Authorities are looking for the parents of a newborn boy found dead in a trash container in San Bernardino County.
Police said Monday that a woman found the infant behind an apartment building in Fontana. His umbilical cord was attached and he had been placed inside a backpack.
Fontana Police Lt. Gary Aulis said the coroner will conduct an autopsy. Police do not know if the baby was born alive or was stillborn.
Sgt. Jeff Decker told KCAL-TV Channel 9 that the baby had been in the trash container for at least 15 hours.
