WILD RECORDS

This local indie label ( www.wildpresents.com) releases some of the most boppin’ rockabilly in town. Check it out for yourself this Saturday when Wild bands Lil Gizzelle, Omar and the Stringpoppers and Ruby Ann play the Ink-N-Iron Festival in Long Beach ( www.ink-n-iron.com).

DRINKS AT CHIPOTLE

We like Chipotle’s food, but we wish their burritos were as cheap as their margaritas. The chain offers $3.75 margaritas (not to mention domestic beers from $2.75).

THE GLENDALE FREEWAY

The trip south can be sluggish in the morning, but this stretch of road between Echo Park and La Canada Flintridge is still one of L.A.’s least congested freeways.

ROCK & REPUBLIC JEANS

Worn by celebrities such as Britney Spears and Carrie Underwood, R&R;’s high-end jeans (in the $230 to $350 range at your shmancier clothing stores across L.A.) have gotten a lot of exposure in the media. Here’s some more: Wear them a dozen times or so and they can fray, tear and fall apart like so much cotton candy.

TAXIS IN L.A.

Calling a cab for a night on the town seems like a good idea, but they can often take an hour or more to arrive, frequently ignore important distinctions (like, say, the one between “Sunset Drive” and “Sunset Boulevard”) and expect you to direct them to your destination. We’re trying to be responsible drunks here, Mr. Cab Driver. Throw us a bone!
