* at Chicago 12, Minnesota 2: Nick Swisher and Alexei Ramirez homered in the White Sox’s sixth straight victory, coming one week after Manager Ozzie Guillen’s outburst over their hitting. Chicago has 54 runs during the streak and has scored 10 or more in three consecutive games for the first time since July 15-17, 2000.

* at Texas 6, Tampa Bay 3: David Murphy, replacing AL home-run leader and major league RBI leader Josh Hamilton (viral infection), hit an early home run before German Duran and Ramon Vazquez also homered to help the Rangers avoid a sweep.

* at Boston 2, Seattle 1: Justin Masterson (3-0) pitched six strong innings and J.D. Drew hit a go-ahead homer for the Red Sox. Masterson gave up one run and three hits for Boston, which has won 15 of its last 16 at home. Jonathan Papelbon picked up his 18th save.

* at Toronto 5, Baltimore 4: Roy Halladay (8-5) won his fourth straight start, Vernon Wells homered and the Blue Jays ended a four-game losing streak. Marco Scutaro drove in two runs for Toronto. Halladay gave up four runs and eight hits in 7 2/3 innings.

* at Detroit 5, Cleveland 2: Curtis Granderson homered and Placido Polanco hit a key two-run single as the Tigers scored all of their runs in the first four innings. Armando Galarraga (5-2) picked up the win, giving up two runs in 5 2/3 innings. Todd Jones earned his 10th save.

* at New York 6, Kansas City 3: The Royals fell to 4-29 at Yankee Stadium since the 2000 season.

* at Oakland 7, Angels 3 (12 innings): The A’s avoided a three-game sweep in a 3-hour 53-minute game.
