Eagle Scout held in car burglaries
An Eagle Scout has been arrested on suspicion of stealing iPods, cash and packs of cigarettes from more than two dozen cars, police said Thursday.
Police spotted Carter Sudeith, 18, shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday -- just hours after his high school graduation -- in the 3700 block of Hamilton Street in Irvine. He was dressed in black, carrying a black backpack and wearing latex gloves, police said.
Sudeith was looking for unlocked cars and was able to get into as many as 30 vehicles, police said.
He is listed as a member of University High School’s senior class, which held its graduation ceremony Tuesday.
Sudeith is being held at Central Men’s Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond, according to Orange County Sheriff’s Department records.
