Can’t LAPD, sheriffs get along?
Re “‘Where are you from?’” Opinion, June 24
Los Angeles Police Department Chief of Detectives Charlie Beck unwittingly identified the real gang problem facing Los Angeles. The Sheriff’s Department and the LAPD just can’t seem to cooperate on behalf of the communities they have sworn to protect.
Please save the inter-agency competition for the Police Olympics. If the leaders of Southern California’s two largest police agencies can’t agree on the causes of gang violence, what can they agree on? Three thousand street-gang crimes this year says it all for me. How about the Big Two working together to stop this madness?
