Boy, 12, is killed, man hurt in Long Beach shooting
A 12-year-old boy was fatally shot in Long Beach late Sunday and a 20-year-old man was wounded when two men on foot opened fire on them.
Long Beach Police said the assailants were walking near Cherry Avenue and East 15th Street about 10 p.m. when one or both shot the victims with a handgun.
The bleeding boy and man ran to the back of a nearby house. Someone who heard the gunfire called 911, and the victims were taken by ambulance to St. Mary Medical Center, where the boy died of his wounds, police said.
The names of victims were not available, police said. The condition of the wounded man was not known.
