7 suspended for school hacking

Students at Rancho Bernardo High School used stolen passwords and software purchased on the Internet to hack into the school computers to change grades and peek at tests, district officials said Monday.

Seven students have been suspended and will appear before hearing panels, Poway Unified School Supt. Don Phillips said. “These students have made very bad choices,” he said. The hacking was disclosed two weeks ago but the method used was not revealed.
