A second Marine wanted in connection with the killing of a colleague from Camp Pendleton was arrested Wednesday in Texas, Orange County sheriff’s officials said.

Pfc. Alvin Reed Lovely was booked into a Dallas County jail after being arrested at a relative’s home. Lovely, 20, had been a fugitive since last week.

Lance Cpl. Christian William Carney, also of Camp Pendleton, was arrested on a murder charge Friday. He pleaded not guilty to the charge on Tuesday and was ordered held without bail, according to court records.

Carney and Lovely are suspects in the death of a third Marine, Pfc. Stephen Serrano.

All three Marines were assigned to the 1st Marine Division.

A hiker found Serrano’s body -- still in desert fatigues and boots -- in a drainage ditch May 15 in San Clemente on May 15. Authorities said he had been shot once in the chest and was believed to have been killed in the ditch. A murder weapon has not been found.
