A 14-year-old girl arrested on suspicion of killing her mother with a hammer will be tried as an adult, prosecutors said Wednesday.
Rebecca D’Aoust was arrested Sunday at her Scripps Ranch home. She is expected to be arraigned today in Superior Court.
Her mother, Rebecca D’Aoust, 56, a school counselor, died Monday. The law allows prosecutors to consider the severity and circumstances of the crime before deciding whether to charge a minor as a juvenile or adult.
