at Indiana 95, Boston 79: Danny Granger scored 20 points to lead the balanced Pacers, who handed the defending champions their first loss. Paul Pierce made only three of 15 shots and Ray Allen was four for 10 for the Celtics.

at Atlanta 95, Philadelphia 88: Joe Johnson scored 35 points, including a long three-point shot that clinched it with 11 seconds remaining, and the Hawks battled back from a 23-point deficit. By winning their home opener, the Hawks improved to 2-0, their best start in a decade.

at Charlotte 100, Miami 87: Gerald Wallace scored 34 points and the Bobcats shot 54% to give Larry Brown his first victory in his ninth NBA head coaching job. After a winless preseason and an ugly loss at Cleveland to open the regular season, Wallace, Jason Richardson and Emeka Okafor powered the Bobcats with an efficient, hustling performance that gave the well-traveled Brown his 1,011th career win.

at Orlando 121, Sacramento 103: Dwight Howard had 29 points and 14 rebounds, and the Magic earned its first victory of the season. Four Orlando players scored 20 or more points as the Kings lost their third in a row.

at Detroit 117, Washington 109: The Pistons’ reserves scored 55 points, led by Walter Herrman with 16. Richard Hamilton (24 points) and Rasheed Wallace (17), both former Wizards, were the only Detroit starters to play well.

Golden State 105, New Jersey 97: Andris Biedrins had 23 points and 11 rebounds, Corey Maggette added 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Stephen Jackson scored 20 of his 23 points in the second half as the Warriors spoiled the Nets’ home opener.

Dallas 95, at Minnesota 85: The Mavericks won their ninth in a row over the Timberwolves as Dirk Nowitzki had 21 points and Jason Terry added 19. Kevin Love had nine points in 23 minutes for Minnesota.

at Houston 89, Oklahoma City 77: The Rockets shot only 36.4%, but they led almost the entire way with excellent free-throw shooting (27 of 31) and improved to 3-0.

Toronto 91, at Milwaukee 87: Jose Calderon scored a career-high 25 points, including a crucial three-pointer late in the fourth quarter, and the Raptors won their third in a row. Chris Bosh had 20 points and 10 rebounds for Toronto.

at Chicago 96, Memphis 86: The Grizzlies had a chance to go over .500 for the first time since the end of the 2005-06 season, but No. 1 pick Derrick Rose scored 26 points to lead the Bulls. Rose scored four points during a 9-1 run midway through the fourth quarter. O.J. Mayo had 16 points for the Grizzlies.

at Phoenix 107, Portland 96: Amare Stoudemire scored 16 of his 23 points in the decisive third quarter and the Suns beat the Trail Blazers for the 10th consecutive time.

at New Orleans 104, Cleveland 92: Chris Paul had 24 points and 15 assists, and the Hornets improved to 3-0.

Lakers 104, at Denver 97: Kobe Bryant took over in the fourth quarter as the Lakers stayed unbeaten despite some early foul trouble.

at Utah 101, Clippers 79: Carlos Boozer had 25 points and 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season, and the Jazz, which had only five turnovers, pulled away with a 30-4 run in the second half.
