Ducks officials to talk to Sundin

Ducks executives are scheduled to talk to free-agent center Mats Sundin today or Wednesday to see whether he’s interested in playing for them and at what price. The Ducks are $900,000 below the salary cap and would have to make major moves to sign the 37-year-old.

“He’s intrigued. They’re a good hockey team, and one of his criteria is that he wants to play for a good team,” said Sundin’s agent, J.P. Barry. “He hasn’t made any decisions at all yet.”

General Manager Brian Burke declined to comment. As for the Kings, they will start Erik Ersberg in goal, his first start of the season. He has played two games in relief of Jason LaBarbera, giving up two goals on 14 shots. “It’s a good opportunity for him, a home game against one of the premier teams in the league,” Coach Terry Murray said. “His time is here and we’re looking forward to seeing something from him.”
