Warcraft, Chiefs and ‘Idol’ talk

Share

Don’t talk, chant about:

Kaiser Chiefs. Or, you know, don’t chant. They wouldn’t want you to. Just bob your head along when the alternative rock band from Leeds performs songs from its latest, “Off With Their Heads,” at the Music Box @ Henry Fonda Theater. (Tuesday)

You should be talking about:

“Spring Awakening.” It’s the Tony Award-winning musical about libidinous teens in 1891 Germany, and it’ll be at the Ahmanson through Dec. 7. Already in the know? Get yourself to meet and greet with the cast and crew of the Los Angeles production, who will be on hand to sign the official companion guide “Spring Awakening: In the Flesh” at the Borders in Westwood. (Monday)

The Draenei, Tauren and others journeying to Northrend are already talking about:

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Expansion Pack. If you understood that, you’ve been ready for this raid for a while now. If you didn’t, just skip ahead. (Thursday)

Country fans aren’t the only ones talking about:

Taylor Swift. On Swift’s sophomore album, “Fearless,” the 18-year-old sings about lying boyfriends (“You’re Not Sorry”), would-be boyfriends with other girls (“You Belong With Me”) and the fairy-tale boyfriend who doesn’t exist (“White Horse”). In other words, Joe Jonas, the girl is over it. (Tuesday)

Many have talked about:

“The Boys in the Band.” William Friedkin’s 1970 film of the stage play -- about the events that ensue between out and closeted friends during one long birthday party -- was one of the first films to openly address gay issues largely without stereotyping. In its first DVD release, Friedkin, playwright and screenwriter Mart Crowley, Dominick Dunne and Tony Kushner sound off in a retrospective featurette. (Tuesday)

“American Idol” fans will talk about:

David Archuleta. When it comes to the real world, this year’s “Idol” runner-up has clobbered winner David Cook. Archuleta’s single “Crush” debuted at No. 2 on Billboard, and has sold almost a million copies, while Cook’s “Light On” settled for No. 17. Archuleta is grateful: His self-titled debut disc, out this week, reportedly comes with more than 2,000 words worth of thank-yous in the liner notes. (Tuesday)
