Re “Baca may limit guns off-duty,” Nov. 11
Sheriff Lee Baca is to be commended for acknowledging and taking the lead on what is a tragedy for both the victim of an off-duty shooting and the deputy involved. In considering restricting access to guns by off-duty officers who are under the influence of alcohol, Baca is acting responsibly and exhibiting leadership by protecting the best interest of his deputies and the general public.
I’m surprised at the Assn. for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs for not supporting Baca’s initiative. It’s common sense -- guns and alcohol are a very bad combination for any individual and increase the probability of tragic consequences.
