The four were in a Honda Civic that was struck by a Toyota pickup truck. A third vehicle then struck the truck. The truck’s driver, Sandalo Martinez, 28, was hospitalized with serious injuries, officials said. The third driver, Carlos Rio Ortiz, 20, had minor injuries.

According to the school’s website, the students had just finished playing basketball at the college gym and were on their way to get something to eat when the accident occurred about 11:45 p.m.
