Weapon reported at high school
Manual Arts High School was placed on lockdown Friday afternoon after a staff member at the school allegedly saw someone on campus with a weapon, a school official said.
More than 50 Los Angeles Police Department officers and Los Angeles Unified school police officers arrived about 1 p.m. and searched the school grounds, but made no arrests.
After 3 p.m., students were dismissed by classroom and taken by bus to the Los Angeles Sports Arena, where family members could pick them up.
Authorities were unsure if a conflict earlier that day between two students was related to the event.
Manual Arts plans to have extra security Monday.
