at North Carolina 38, No. 24 Connecticut 12: Shawn Draughn rushed for a career-high 109 yards and a touchdown, defensive lineman Marvin Austin returned an interception 23 yards for another score for the Tar Heels (4-1). North Carolina overcame some shortcomings on the stat sheet by scoring 21 points off Husky mistakes. Connecticut (5-1) outgained the Tar Heels 378-263 and had a 10-minute advantage in time of possession, but couldn’t overcome the three passes that Zach Frazer had intercepted.

Florida State 41, at Miami 39: Antone Smith rushed for a career-best four touchdowns and Florida State (4-1, 1-1) wasted most of an early 24-point lead before hanging on to beat Miami (2-3, 0-2). Christian Ponder ran for 144 yards, becoming the first Florida State quarterback since Charlie Ward in 1992 to run for triple figures.

at No. 20 Virginia Tech 27, Western Kentucky 13: Darren Evans ran for two touchdowns and quarterback Tyrod Taylor had one passing to lead Virginia Tech (5-1) past the Hilltoppers (2-4).

at Virginia 31, Maryland 0: Marc Verica threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as Virginia (2-3, 1-1) finally clicked on offense and pounded Maryland (4-2, 1-1).

Boston College 38, at North Carolina State 31: Chris Crane scampered 13 yards around the left side for a touchdown with 22.8 seconds left to give Boston College (4-1, 1-1) the victory over the Wolfpack (2-4, 0-2).

at Georgia Tech 27, Duke 0: Jaybo Shaw had 230 yards passing on nine completions, all to Demariyus Thomas, and Jonathan Dwyer ran for a career-best 159 yards. Georgia Tech (4-1, 2-1) led only 3-0 at halftime. Duke (3-2, 1-1) suffered its 17th straight ACC road loss.
