In October, it’s open season on Angels

Share

As a family of season-ticket holders who have been attending Angels games for more than 40 years, I speak for all of us in bidding “adios” to “Pay Rod.” Don’t let the door hit you on your way to New York. They can have you.

Thanks for a bit of excitement in the 2002 playoffs -- you helped our beloved Angels win a World Series, but you failed to learn the lessons of class and dignity from your predecessor.

Your record-setting season is overestimated, your requested pay increase is overpriced, and your self-aggrandizing antics after a “save” are over the top. The bottom line is this: It’s over. Only the Red Sox will be sorry to see you go!

With respect to clutch RBIs in the American League divisional series, Vladdy puts the “O” in Mr. “O”ctober!

The primary reason the Angels succumbed to the Red Sox, again, is the rickety play of Erick Aybar and Howie Kendrick. How’s that Orlando Cabrera-for-Jon Garland trade looking now? In addition, if the Angels want to entertain the idea of succumbing to the mighty Sox again next year, Mark Teixeira must be signed at all costs.

The entire Angel organization has to be one of the classiest in all of professional sports. I know it didn’t turn out the way we all were hoping for, but thank you for another great season.

I wish to apologize to the Angels for criticizing them for their over-the-top excessive celebration after winning the division. I didn’t realize it would be the only chance they had to celebrate this season.

After the Angels lost to the Red Sox in the ALDS, John Lackey sure sounded like a sore loser. Hey John, you did lose to a better team. It was awful to watch Lackey with an “I can’t believe my teammates can’t make a play” look on his face every time someone made an error. I don’t see his teammates making faces at Lackey every time he grooves a fastball that someone hits over or off a wall. You were better in April, July, August, whatever. You weren’t better when it counted . . . in October.

Dear Mr. Moreno,

It is obvious that your attempt to use the “Los Angeles” name even though you’re in Anaheim has been a big bust. Go back to either the Anaheim Angels or the California Angels and hopefully, the team will get past the first round next year.

The owner of the Angels put a curse on the team by changing its name to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. For them to win anything, he should change the name back to Anaheim Angels to reverse the curse.
