Plane crash kills three, injures one
Three people were killed and one injured when a small plane crashed Monday near Santa Catalina Island’s tiny Airport in the Sky, officials said.
The survivor was taken to Harbor General Hospital in Torrance, said Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Mike Brown.
“He was awake and talking to a doctor when he arrived at the hospital,” Brown said.
He added that “the plane may have been taking off” when it crashed near the end of the runway about 1:22 p.m., sparking a small brush fire.
