‘Pacman’ Jones enters alcohol rehab

Suspended Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones has entered an alcohol treatment center.

The oft-troubled player has checked into a facility “in another part of the country,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Monday.

“It’s totally done through and by the NFL,” Jerry Jones said. The NFL said it would not comment.

Only six weeks after being reinstated from a 17-month suspension because of repeated legal problems, Jones was involved in an alcohol-related scuffle Oct. 7 with one of his bodyguards at a private party in Dallas.

Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson is being investigated for allegedly spitting a drink in a woman’s face at a nightclub, the fourth time in five years he has been accused of assaulting a woman.

The case has been assigned to a detective and will be investigated as resources allow, police spokesman Capt. Rich Lockhart said. Johnson has not been charged.

Anquan Boldin returned to practice for Arizona just over three weeks after he was injured on a vicious hit by the New York Jets’ Eric Smith. . . . St. Louis running back Steven Jackson has a slightly strained quadriceps, but is expected to play at New England on Sunday. . . . Cincinnati rookie linebacker Keith Rivers was scheduled for surgery Monday to set his broken jaw, an injury that will end his season. . . . Calling Kellen Winslow’s critical comments a distraction, Cleveland Coach Romeo Crennel confirmed the tight end was hospitalized for a staph infection. Winslow said he didn’t reveal he had staph because the team “didn’t want it to get out.” Winslow said he came forward to protect his teammates. . . . New England put running back Laurence Maroney on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, ending his season.
