The festival features screenings, seminars, competition and a presentation of “Genre Festival.” New to the mix this year is a Hollywood Horror, Sci-Fi & Fantasy Film Festival in conjunction with Film Threat. www.hollywood filmfestival.com.

Celebrating its 12th year as a Bay Area-based film festival, the Arab Film Festival visits Beverly Hills for its second year at the Writers Guild Theater. The event, through Sunday, features 20 narrative, documentary and short films providing “realistic perspectives on Arab politics and people.” The festival will also present filmmaking/industry panels, as well as a program at USC on filmmaking in Iraq. www.aff .org.
