Jordan is getting technical part down

So, who exactly was the Clippers player with this roller-coaster, if not eclectic, first-quarter showing at Staples Center on Friday night?

Two points, four rebounds, two missed free throws . . . and one well-earned technical foul in about 10 minutes.

Not exactly the most difficult question, given the final hint -- the deserved technical -- in what ended up a 106-92 victory by the Denver Nuggets.

It was none other than irrepressible rookie center DeAndre Jordan.

Late in the quarter, Jordan made a nice move, cutting the Nuggets’ lead to one point, and punctuated the moment by appearing to yell at Denver center Nene, but Clippers Coach Mike Dunleavy said the technical came because Jordan had complained to the referee about a series of non-calls.

This was not quite a repeat, but close enough, of his first technical in his first NBA exhibition game, in Fresno, when he dunked over the Lakers’ Chris Mihm and screamed.

Jordan was properly repentant in his online blog for the Clippers and in an interview with The Times (“I mean, I should have turned the other way.”)

Just call him T-Rook.

Game Report

If this was a dress rehearsal, then a lot of cues were missed and lines botched in what was the Clippers’ final exhibition game. After opening 4-1, they lost to the Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers and the Nuggets.

They never led Friday as foul trouble started early and things deteriorated from there. A displeased Dunleavy held a lengthy closed-door meeting with his team and later said he was disappointed with the way it played.

Cuttino Mobley had 21 points for the Clippers and rookie guard Eric Gordon scored 17.

Gordon was the victim of a flagrant foul by guard J.R. Smith in the final minutes but appeared to come away intact. Smith scored 19 points. As for Nene, he had 12.

Injury Update

It may be more of a surprise if Marcus Camby is actually available for the season opener Wednesday. Instead of going up against his former teammates from Denver, he received a pain-killing shot for his bruised right heel.

Camby said in the hallway before the game that he thought he would get the shot at halftime.

“He’s the one I’m thinking is potentially not available,” Dunleavy said of the three injured Clippers.

The Clippers open against the Lakers and play the Nuggets on Friday at Staples Center. Camby had talked about his desire to play against his old friends.

“That may be overblown when it’s all said and done,” Dunleavy said. “I think he’s too-close-to-their-players type of thing. You almost have to not like their guys.”

The flu and the injury limited Camby to about three days of practice. Dunleavy was asked what he needed to see from Camby before he could take the next step, so to speak.

“See him get down the floor without limping,” he said. “It’d be a start.”

Opening Night

The Clippers have made some tickets available for opening night against the Lakers on Wednesday, releasing 1,000 seats. There are seats in all price categories.
