Panel, schools receive arts grants

Share

The New York-based Wallace Foundation on Tuesday announced grants to two local entities to help foster arts education for young people.

The Los Angeles County Arts Commission received $1.2 million for its 6-year-old Arts for All program. The program works with 28 local school districts to help them make up for the loss of traditionally funded music, drawing, drama and other classes and activities. A separate $600,000 planning grant went to the Los Angeles Unified School District to support research on current arts-instruction practices.

The grants’ aim is to find ways to provide long-term, high-quality arts programs with support from parents, district officials and others.
