RealD, the biggest manufacturer of 3-D projection equipment, signed an agreement with Cinema Buying Group to equip 1,000 screens in independent theaters.
The accord ensures that movie theaters in smaller U.S. markets will be able to show the 30 3-D titles scheduled for release through 2011, the groups said. Terms of the agreement weren’t disclosed.
RealD, based in Beverly Hills, has installed 1,500 of its 3-D systems worldwide and has contracts to equip 5,000 more screens over the next two years.
