A Pasadena man who was allegedly drunk when he tried to drive his car over six people is being held on $1-million bail and faces a possible life sentence, the Orange County district attorney said Wednesday.

Bryan Adam Curiel, 23, is charged with a total of 15 felony counts, including six counts of attempted murder and six counts of aggravated assault. Prosecutors said Curiel and a friend had been drinking in Newport Beach on Sunday when they went to a doughnut shop and tried to befriend three women.

The women rebuffed the men and left, but Curiel and his friend followed them. The women were joined outside by three friends. According to a district attorney news statement, Curiel cursed at the group and left with his friend.

Ten minutes later he allegedly drove his car between 50 and 65 mph in a nearby parking lot and tried to hit the victims, one of whom suffered a minor injury. He crashed his car on concrete benches and was arrested.
