Kansas City 4, at Minnesota 2: Ryan Shealy blooped a two-run single in the seventh inning and the Royals handed the Twins another wrenching loss. Minnesota remained half a game ahead of Chicago in the Central Division but lost for the second game in a row to Kansas City, which has won 13 of 15 games and its last eight on the road.
at Detroit 4, Tampa Bay 3: Miguel Cabrera homered and Dontrelle Willis had his best outing of a lost season for the Tigers. Willis gave up three runs and four hits with three walks in a season-best 5 1/3 innings. It was the first time in eight appearances this season that he pitched more than one inning without walking at least five batters.
at Baltimore 2, Toronto 1 (6 innings): The Orioles ended a losing streak at 10 games in a game called in the top of the seventh inning because of rain. Brian Bass gave up one run and three hits in six innings for Baltimore.
at Seattle 7, Oakland 3: Kenji Johjima hit a three-run home run during a six-run first inning for the Mariners.
New York at Boston, ppd., rain: The teams will play a day-night doubleheader today at Fenway Park.
Cleveland 12, at Chicago 6: Zach Jackson pitched seven strong innings and Asdrubal Cabrera hit a three-run double against struggling Javier Vazquez in a six-run fifth inning for the Indians. The White Sox, with a chance to take over first place in the Central Division, lost their fifth in a row.
Texas 8, at Angels 4: The Rangers denied the Angels their 100th victory for the second game in a row.
