TIMES WIRE REPORTS

A fellow Democrat has claimed the congressional seat vacated by Rahm Emanuel when Emanuel became President Obama’s chief of staff.

In a special election, Cook County Commissioner Mike Quigley, 50, trounced GOP nominee Rosanna Pulido and Green Party candidate Matt Reichel for the 5th District seat that Emanuel first won in 2002.

Quigley will represent part of Chicago, serving the remainder of the two-year term Emanuel won in November.
