Indians put an end to Red Sox’s streak
Mark DeRosa had four hits and scored from second base on an error with two out in the ninth inning, and the Cleveland Indians beat Boston, 9-8, Tuesday night to end the Red Sox’s winning streak at 11 games.
The Indians won for only the second time in their last 11 games against the Red Sox.
Kerry Wood (1-1) worked a shaky ninth inning to earn his first American League win.
DeRosa, who began the game in a two-for-22 slump, started the ninth with a bloop single against Javier Lopez (0-2). After a sacrifice and a strikeout, first baseman Kevin Youkilis made a backhanded stop of Asdrubal Cabrera’s grounder and flipped to Lopez, who dropped it as he got to first base.
